Master of Science in Oriental Medicine  
Kingston University offers a complete study program in Oriental Medicine following the Criteria for Approval of Acupuncture and oriental Mediccine Curriculum of California Acupuncture Board. Students will learn-the knowledge and skills required by California Acupuncture Board in Basic Sciences, Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine principles, Theories and Treatment, Clinical Medicine, Patient Assessment and Diagnosis, Public Health, Case Management, Practice Management, Professional Development, and Clinical Practice. Upon successful completion, students will be granted Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree.

 

 

Requirements
 
Students desiring admission to the MSOM programs must meet the following requirements:
  1. Have completed at least 90 quarter or 60 semester units of undergraduate course works from an approved or accredited institution, or an equivalent foreign academic institution. The undergraduate course works completed should have a cumulative GPA. of at least 2.50. Official transcript(s) are required and must be sent directly from the issuing institutions to the Admission Office of the University.
  2. Submission of an application and application fee.
  3. Submission of two letters of recommendation
  4. Submission of a statement or essay detailing why they wish to pursue the educational program.
  5. Applicants whose native language is not English must satisfy English proficiency requirement by submitting either one of the following document:
a) a TOEFL score of at least 61 on iBT or Level 6 on IELTS

b) evidence (official transcript) of having taken at least 2 years of education in a program where English was the language of instruction, or

c) a proof of concurrent enrollment in an ESL program to improve English competency level and pass English Proficiency requirement stated in (a) above before beginning clinical experience.
 
Procedures
 
Students applying for admission to the Master of Business Administration program are required to follow the procedures below:
  1. Submit sealed official transcript(s) from previous college(s) attended showing completion of a minimum of 90 quarter or 60 semester units of undergraduate course work
  2. Submit a completed application form obtained from Kingston University Admission Office or downloaded from Kingston University website
  3. Submit at least one letter of recommendation. Applicants may also use the Recommendation Form downloadable below or inquire the form at the Admission Office
  4. Submit $100 of non-refundable application fee

Once the University receives all required documents and forms, the student’s application file will be deemed complete and a decision by the Academic Dean’s office will be made concerning the student’s admission to the school. 

Admission is granted to applicants who demonstrate true interest, understanding of the goal of the program and the ability to undertake the successful study of the intended subject, while meeting the admissions requirements. Applicants may be asked to supplement with additional evidence of academic proficiency.

Admission decisions will be made within 30 days of receiving all required documentation.

Students admitted to the Master’s degree program will be required to pay a matriculation fee of $300 to reserve their enrollment in the school.  Admission is granted for a period of one year.

Transfer Student
 
Students wish to transfer from other higher education institutions are required to file application for admission as described above. Upon admission, the credits students earned from other institution previously attended will be evaluated. Appropriate credits will be granted if they are equivalent to courses offered at Kingston University.  For detail information on transferring credits from other higher education institutions, applicants are referred to review Transfer Credit Policy section in the Academic Policy.
